The Department of Defense said Monday the fixed-price-incentive, firm-fixed-price, cost-plus-fixed-fee and cost-only contract with a base value of $139.2 million was awarded on Dec. 20. It covers the production of MK 54 MOD 1 lightweight torpedo kits and related items including test equipment, spares and provisioned item orders. The company will also provide engineering and hardware support for the program.
The contract involves purchases for the Navy and foreign military sales. It runs through December 2027 and will be performed in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania; Salt Lake City, Utah; Andover, Massachusetts; Bloomington, Indiana; Manassas, Virginia and Port Orchard, Washington. It also comes with options that will boost its value to $807.6 million and extend the competition date to December 2033, if exercised.
The Naval Sea Systems Command in Washington D.C. will allocate $59.7 million, $26.5 million and $23.6 million from the Navy’s fiscal 2024, fiscal 2023 and fiscal 2025 weapons procurement funds, respectively. An additional $3.7 million will come from foreign military sale funds. The amount of $26.5 million will expire once the current fiscal year ends.
