Xcelerate Solutions, a defense and national security company, has merged with Fairfax, Virginia-based cybersecurity firm VMD as part of efforts to offer an expanded portfolio of secure platforms and services to federal government customers.
Founded in 2002, VMD provides information technology services in cybersecurity, agile engineering and critical infrastructure protection to the federal government, according to a joint release published Tuesday.
The combined company will operate as Xcelerate Solutions with a team of over 1,000 tech professionals focused on delivering a range of cybersecurity, enterprise security and infrastructure protection services to defense, national security, civilian and law enforcement agency customers.
Xcelerate CEO Mark Drever said the company sees the transaction as a “win-win” and has been looking to broaden its IT and security capabilities through mergers and acquisitions since it secured investment from private equity firm McNally Capital.
“VMD is a great match. Together, our expanded capabilities, contracts and specialized expertise make a powerful statement to the government market,” added Drever.
Ropes & Gray and Nelson Mullins played a role in the transaction as legal advisers.
