The State Department has approved a pair of foreign military sale requests worth $219.3 million combined from the government of Italy’s request to procure an air-launched precision strike weapon and air-to-air missile systems from the U.S. government.
Italy requested to procure 12 RTX-manufactured (NYSE: TRX) AIM-120C-8 advanced medium-range air-to-air missiles and related equipment under a potential $69.3 million FMS deal, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Thursday.
The proposed deal will supplement a previously implemented FMS case, bringing Italy’s AMRAAM missile request to 24.
RTX will also serve as the principal contractor on Italy’s $150 million FMS request for 125 Small Diameter Bomb Increment II all-up-rounds and eight captive carry reliability test equipment.
The requested defense equipment will be added to the original FMS case valued at $22.5 million, which includes 24 SDB-II bombs and four CCRTs, and a new FMS case, which includes 24 SDB-II AURs and 2 CCRTs.
