Health IT, Emerging Tech & UX Take Center Stage at POC’s 2023 Healthcare Summit

Keynote Speakers

Opening the day’s program with a keynote address is Rear Admiral Tracy Farrill, interim director of the Defense Health Network Continental at the Defense Health Agency. In her role, RDML Farrill leads one of nine DHA networks recently established as part of the agency’s reorganization efforts.

Andrea Fletcher, the first-ever chief digital strategy officer and Executive Director of the Digital Service at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, follows RDML Farrill with a morning keynote. Fletcher is responsible for leading digital modernization efforts at CMS, and she’s particularly passionate about improving user experience — watch her recent interview with Executive Mosaic to learn more!

Darrell LaRoche, deputy director for management operations for the Indian Health Service, agency within the Department of Health and Human Services, closes out our summit with a keynote speech. LaRoche is responsible for providing management direction to IHS program offices.

Panel Sessions

Applying Human Centered Design and Rapid Prototyping Concepts in Healthcare Applications

This panel features Lauren Alexanderson, deputy CTO of Health Delivery within the Office of Information and Technology at the Department of Veterans Affairs; Dr. Ranya Habash, a member of the Food & Drug Administration’s Digital Health Network of Experts; and Xavier Soosai, CIO and director of IT Services at the National Institutes of Health’s Center for Information Technology. LMI’s Chief Medical Informatics Officer and Fellow in Bioinformatics Alexander Holston moderates. 

Preserving Patient Privacy while Maintaining Innovation and Expanding the User Experience

Angela Curtis, IT program manager for the Department of Veterans Affairs’ Innovation Unit; and Thomas “Pat” Flanders, program executive officer for Medical Systems and CIO, J-6 for DHA will participate in this panel moderated by Karen Brazell, vice president for SAIC’s Department of Veterans Affairs account. 

Challenges and Opportunities in Building a Data Sharing Ecosystem for Health Research & Surveillance

John Beresny, director of the Health Solutions Division at Noblis, moderates this panel discussion with speakers Dr. Kimberly Marschhauser, associate director of the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute, and Dr. Christopher Chute, chief research information officer at Johns Hopkins University and Medicine.
