Under the four-year contract, the government-owned, contractor-operated Holston Army Ammunition Plant in Kingsport, Tennessee, will replace its open-burning process of treating explosive wastes with the EDC technology, Parsons said Friday.
The EDC facility is an emission-controlled thermal treatment plant designed to process hazardous explosive waste streams. It is intended to meet all federal government requirements for the safe and effective treatment of bulk explosive waste.
Commenting on the award, Jon Moretta, president of engineered systems at Parsons, said “[The company will employ its] technical design, engineering, and complex delivery capabilities in support of this mission.”
He added that the work expands on Parson’s commitment to technology innovation and environmental stewardship.
