Air Force Picks Leidos, Riverside Research for Open Systems Architecture R&D

Leidos (NYSE: LDOS) and Riverside Research have won contracts worth $79.2 million combined to provide research and development support for the U.S. Air Force.

The contractors will research, build and demonstrate component prototypes to further develop open architecture approaches and standards for existing and future weapons systems of the Air Force and the Department of Defense, DOD said Thursday.

Leidos was awarded a contract worth $48.6 million, while Riverside secured a $30.6 million contract.

The Air Force Research Laboratory received six offers for the cost-plus-fixed-fee contracts and is obligating $1.8 million to Leidos and $618,000 to Riverside using fiscal 2022 research, development, test and evaluation funds.

The awardees will perform work at their respective facilities in Virginia through Jan. 29, 2027.
