Carlos Del Toro, president and CEO of Virginia-based professional services company SBG Technology Solutions, has been confirmed by the Senate to serve as the 78th U.S. Navy secretary.
“As an immigrant who has dedicated his life to public service, Carlos exemplifies the core values of honor, courage, and commitment in defense of our country,” Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, a 2021 Wash100 Award recipient, said in a statement Saturday.
“He understands firsthand the most pressing challenges and opportunities facing our Navy, from addressing the pacing challenge of China and modernizing our capabilities, to investing in our most valuable asset – our people.”
After a 22-year Navy career, Del Toro established SBG in 2004 to offer information technology and engineering support services in the government market.
A prior White House notice stated that his company has supported multiple defense programs in the areas of shipbuilding, cybersecurity, acquisition, space, health, training and artificial intelligence.
