Raytheon to Support USAF DevSecOps Software Dev’t; David Appel Quoted

Raytheon Technologies‘ (NYSE: RTX) intelligence and space business has signed a five-year basic ordering agreement to help the U.S. Air Force develop agile and secure software.

The company said Wednesday it will support USAF’s pursuits with Platform One, a team tasked to support development, security and operations or DevSecOps for the Department of Defense.

DevSecOps is a security-focused approach to software development. The DevSecOps LevelUP software services BOA will support multiple programs that use the approach, such as the Advanced Battle Management System.

“To combat increasingly fast, capable and agile threats, we must be able to deliver services within hours, or even minutes,” said David Appel, vice president of defense and civil solutions for space and command and control systems at Raytheon Intelligence and Space.

He added that the agreement would help USAF achieve the sought software development speed.

The BOA follows RI&S’ previous DevSecOps work on other DoD activities such as USAF’s Kessel Run software development effort.
