Jen Sovada, a retired U.S. Air Force colonel, has joined intelligence technology startup MissionTech Solutions  as chief futures officer and senior vice president and general manager for the defense market.

She will be responsible for incorporating a disruptive innovation model into MissionTech's initiatives to help defense customers implement new technology, the company said Tuesday.

"Jen will assist in leading our efforts to disrupt status quo contracting by pulling the best of commercial tech into government,” MissionTech President Jeffrey Smeraglinolo said.

Sovada most recently served as the head of talent management for Air Force intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance and cyber operations. In that capacity, she managed workforce development and retention programs for 35K airmen.

The military veteran also commanded the 22nd Intelligence Squadron and held other intelligence-related positions during her career with the service branch.
