Orbital ATK(NYSE: OA) has won a $182.1 million contract from the Missile Defense Agency to manufacture the third type of configuration for the agency’s medium-range ballistic missile target system.
The contract also covers production and support equipment, logistics, system engineering and analysis and mission operations, the Defense Departmentsaid Wednesday.
Orbital ATK will produce the MRBM target system in Chandler, Arizona, through Oct. 30, 2020.
MDA received three offers for the contract through a competitive acquisition process launched in 2014 and the agency obligated $25.5 million from its fiscal 2016 research, development, test and evaluation funds at the time of award.
The agency’s Ballistic Missile Defense System comprises networked sensors, ground and sea-based radars and interceptor missiles and a command, control, battle management and communications network.
