Woolpert has acquired Optimal GEO, an Alabama-based geospatial services provider to the defense and intelligence sectors.
Woolpert said Thursday it made the acquisition to increase its ability to support domestic geospatial programs and add lidar, photogrammetric mapping and orthoimagery offerings.
The two companies have jointly worked with federal customers such as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command and the U.S. Geological Survey.
Through the WMR-532 joint venture, Woolpert and Optimal GEO provided topographic and bathymetric lidar data to the Naval Oceanographic Office and the Joint Airborne Lidar Bathymetry Technical Center of Expertise.
Joseph Seppi, a senior vice president at Woolpert, said the combined company seeks to offer integrated geospatial services to address diverse customer requirements.
Woolpert specializes in architecture, engineering, geospatial and strategic consulting services for the public and private sectors.
