AeroVironment CEO Wahid Nawabi said the company has submitted to the U.S. Army its proposal for the three-year Lethal Miniature Aerial Missile System development contract and expects the service to award the contract in 2020, Inside Defense reported Wednesday.
“This hardware production contract to AeroVironment would cover government fiscal years 2020 through 2022,” Nawabi told analysts. “We anticipate this award would be worth up to $160 million over that time period.”
The company has proposed its Switchblade platform for the LMAMS program. Switchblade is a remotely piloted platform that can be launched from ground and aerial platforms and is designed to provide warfighters with precision strike and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities.
