VideoRay has acquired Blue Ring Imaging, a St. Petersburg, Florida-headquartered developer of real-time 3D visualization for unmanned systems, in an effort to enhance situational awareness and object detection capabilities of its underwater remotely operated vehicle.
The Pottstown, Pennsylvania-based company said Wednesday it will utilize Blue Ring Imaging’s artificial intelligence, autonomy, man-machine teaming and 3D visualization to boost the features of its Mission Specialist Defender ROV.
Blue Ring Imaging has developed the OctoView mixed reality software and OctoCAM multi-view 360-degree camera to support augmented and virtual reality visualization for unmanned system operators.
“These technologies align perfectly with VideoRay’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of underwater operations with man-portable robots and fostering effective collaboration between humans and machines,” said Chris Gibson, CEO of VideoRay.
VideoRay offers its submersible Mission Specialist Defender ROV to the U.S. Navy to support defense and security operations, including hull and pier inspections, littoral mine countermeasures and port security missions.
