ViaSat (Nasdaq: VSAT) has received a $100.5M ceiling increase to a contract the U.S. Navy awarded in 2015 for software-based radio terminals to support domestic and international defense customers. Contract work will take place in Carlsbad, Calif., through May 2020.
The modification brings the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract™s value to $889.5M and covers the production of Multifunctional Information Distribution System terminals for the Navy and Air Force as well as NATO member nations under the foreign military sales program, the Department of Defense said Tuesday.
Naval Information Warfare Systems Command will obligate funds with each dleivery order under the sole-source award. According to the initial DoD award notice, the four-channel joint tactical radio has jam-resistant features and is intended for broadband communications and secure data transmission across air, sea and ground platforms.
