AUnited Technologies(NYSE:UTX) subsidiary has received a potential eight-year, $6.7 billion indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract to sustain F119 aircraft engines for the U.S. Air Force.
Pratt and Whitney will perform contract work through December 2025 under the sole-source contract, the Defense Departmentsaid Thursday.
Locations of work are Air Force bases in Alaska, California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Utah, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Texas and Florida.
F119 turbofan engines power the service branch’s fleet of F-22 Raptor fighter jets.
The engine is equipped with a three-stage integrally bladed fan, counterrotating core, high-pressure compressor and a two-dimensional pitch vector nozzle built to drive exhaust thrust up or down as much as 20 degrees.
