The U.S. Air Force has awarded AT&T (NYSE: T) an $87.4M other transaction agreement and Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) a $34.4M OTA to set up enterprise information technology networks for experimentation.
Both companies will each test a commercial data and voice network service intended to help Defense Department users access applications and information from DoD facilities, mobile devices and remote locations, the Pentagonsaid Wednesday.
The Air Force is obligating an undisclosed sum from its fiscal 2018 operations and maintenance funds to the two contractors at the time of award.
The companies are scheduled to complete work by Sept. 30, 2021.
