Nigeria’s Requested Items Under FMS
The foreign military sale request includes 1,002 units each of MK-82 general purpose 500 lb bombs, MXU-650 Air Foil Groups for 500 lb Paveway II GBU-12 and FMU-152 joint programmable fuzes; 515 units of MXU-1006 AFG for 250 lb Paveway II GBU-58; 1,517 MAU-169 or MAU-209 computer control group for Paveway II GBU-12 and GBU-58; 5,000 Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System II all-up-rounds and items not considered as major defense equipment, the Defense Cooperation Agency said Wednesday.
The proposed sale is expected to improve Nigeria’s capability to combat terrorist organizations and counter illicit trafficking, supporting the U.S. foreign policy goals and national security objectives. Nigeria is a strategic partner of the United States in Sub-Saharan Africa.
