Unit-ASRC Construction has won a potential $128.6M contract from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to build a power plant for the Long Range Discrimination Radar system at Clear Air Force Station in Alaska.
The Army received three bids for the project, which is slated to be completed by December 2021, the Department of Defense said Friday.
The contractor will build the power plant along with a HEMP shield to protect diesel-powered generators, generator support equipment and control equipment at the new facility, according to a FedBizOpps summary.
The facility will include a generator area, control switch gear and mechanical rooms, support spaces, protected, above ground 50,000 gallon fuel storage tanks and a fuel offloading station.
Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) is building the radar system as part of a $784.3M contract the Missile Defense Agency awarded in 2015. The system is designed to protect the U.S. against ballistic missile threats.
