The Transportation Security Administration is seeking proposals for a potential $128 million multiple-award contract to develop, install and maintain the new version of the agency’s facial recognition system used to authenticate passenger credentials.
The indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract will have an ordering period of seven years and will cover design, test support, installation, maintenance, engineering, program management and logistics support services for the Next Generation Credential Authentication Technology, according to a notice posted Monday on SAM.gov.
TSA intends for the CAT2 system to verify a wide range of identity documents, validate identities, confirm flight reservation and pre-screening status from the Secure Flight program and show the authentication results to authorized users.
Potential vendors may use the Department of Homeland Security’s enterprise facial recognition technology algorithm or develop their own software to integrate multiple interfaces and capabilities into the CAT2 platform.
Interested parties have until Sept. 230 to respond to the solicitation notice.
