1. New Amarillo Facility Program in Texas

Albers Aerospace planned to construct a new facility in the heart of Amarillo, Texas, last May 2023. As one of the top government contracts won by Albers Aerospace, this will bring more than 400 jobs within the said location and is anticipated to start the construction in the fall of 2023.

Incentives were approved by the Amarillo City Council and the Amarillo Economic Development Corporation (AEDC) the previous year to bring defense contractors to set up operations in Amarillo. The defense contractor will receive $4 million in incentives in order to create local employment within a month of picking the city and another $4 million when the transaction is recognized for the site as part of the agreement with AEDC. The land for the facility is 30 acres and is located near the airport.

With a $2.25 million pledge, Albers Aerospace supports establishing the Don & Ellie Knauss Veteran Resource & Support Center (VRSC). The project is under the Texas A&M Foundation at Texas A&M University. Albers Aerospace’s pledge is the third principal gift to VRSC since it began in 2012.

John Albers was a test pilot for the United States Marine Corps for over 20 years before becoming CEO. He retired as a colonel in 2014. He emphasized that his relevant expertise at Texas A&M University significantly influenced how he served as a colonel.

 

3. Mentor-protégé Agreement Between Vertex Aerospace and the Albers Group LLC

  • Contract value: $2.25 million
  • Contracting date: February 22, 2021

As part of the Department of Defense’s (DoD) Mentor-Protégé Program (MPP), the Albers Group and Vertex Aerospace LLC have signed a Mentor-Protégé Agreement. This contract is between Albers Group and Vertex for assistance in expanding their aircraft maintenance and modification capabilities. The contractors aim to better serve the Tier 1 Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) and customers in the defense sector.

Albers Aerospace is a defense and aerospace company with expertise in the federal government market. The company can bring products and services based on new technologies to help warfighters. Vertex will help Albers Group pursue new business opportunities by advising on creating a scalable organizational infrastructure.

  • Contracting date: March 11, 2022

Hop Flyt developed the Vortex hybrid electrical Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft, and Albers Aerospace is the only company licensed by the DoD to manufacture them. According to the deal with Hop Flyt, this joint venture provided a $5 million budget for planning and manufacturing services. 

Under this contract, HopFlyt’s eVTOL, or Vortex, has two classifications. The military’s Group 5 variant is a hybrid eVTOL with a range of 500 nautical miles and a top speed of 200 knots, and able to carry over 1,000 pounds. On the other hand, the Group 3 military variant can withstand mission-relevant payloads for up to 18 hours, making it suitable for both present and future uses by the United States Armed Forces.

The project expanded  Albers Aerospace’s equity position in Hop Flyt and improved the design, development, and manufacture of military variants of the HopFlyt eVTOL concept.
