Saab has received a potential nine-year, $358.4 million contract from Sweden™s defense material administration to develop and produce an anti-ship missile platform for integration with the country’s Visby-class corvette ships and Gripen E fighter jets.
The anti-ship missile system will have an updated target seeker and combat range as well as new capabilities from the family of RBS15 anti-ship missiles, Saab said Friday.
Saab added it partnered with Diehl Defence GmbH & Co. KG to develop the RBS15 missile that has been used by air forces, coastal batteries and navies for nearly three decades.
Saab will perform deliveries under the contract through 2026.
The contract came nearly a year after Saab secured a $184 million order from Sweden™s defense logistics agency for a lightweight torpedo system.
