Steve Parker, vice president and general manager of bomber and fighter programs at Boeing’s (NYSE: BA) defense, space and security business, has been promoted to chief operating officer of the BDS division, Reuters reported Tuesday.
A spokesperson for Boeing confirmed the promotion of Parker, who will report to BDS President and CEO Ted Colbert.
The leadership move comes as Boeing deals with production and development delays and cost overruns facing its defense programs, according to the report.
Parker also serves as a senior executive for Boeing’s St. Louis site overseeing composite wing component work for the company’s 777X passenger aircraft.
He has been with the aerospace and defense contractor for 30 years and his prior leadership roles include head of vertical lift, VP and program manager of the T-7A Advanced Pilot Training program and F-15 fighter and chief operating officer for Boeing’s defense arm in Australia.
