Steve Bowsher, president of In-Q-Tel, will assume the role of CEO and join the board of trustees of the U.S. intelligence community’s venture capital arm, effective Sept. 8.
He will succeed Chris Darby, who will step down after nearly 17 years of serving as IQT CEO, the nonprofit company said Friday.
Darby will continue to serve on IQT’s board of trustees as a member through September. With him at the helm, the organization has formed partnerships with other U.S. government agencies, expanded into international markets and pursued the development of technological capabilities in support of national security missions.
“Appointing Steve as IQT’s next CEO is the culmination of a succession plan that the Board and I have been working towards the past three years,” said Darby.
Bowsher joined iQT in 2007 and has held the roles of managing general partner and executive vice president.
He previously served as general partner at venture capital firm InterWest Partners and as an executive at E*TRADE.
