State Dept Approves $750M Training Services FMS Deal for Saudi Arabia

The State Department has authorized Saudi Arabia’s procurement of training services for the country’s air force and other military branches under a $750 million foreign military sales agreement with the U.S. government.

Saudi Arabia™s blanket order training program will cover English language, flight, mobile, specialized and technical training services along with professional military education from the U.S. Air Force and other Defense Department agencies, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Monday.

The order will also include program management, medical support, simulators, trainers and DoD-sponsored educational services within the continental U.S. along with mobile training teams who will travel to Saudi Arabia.

DSCA noted that the proposed sale builds on the U.S.’ commitment to supporting Saudi Arabia’s security and the services will help the latter defend against potential threats.

The agency said that it notified Congress regarding the potential sale on Friday.

Saudi Arabia also requested for professional military education, English language training assistance and technical training support services from the U.S. government under a potential $250 million FMS deal approved by the State Department in May.
