State Department Approves Poland's $1.85B FMS Request for F-35 Sustainment

The Department of State has cleared Poland’s request to acquire an estimated $1.85 billion worth of equipment and services for F-35 aircraft sustainment, with General Electric Aerospace as the principal contractor.

Poland’s F-35 Sustainment FMS Request Details

The Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Tuesday the proposed foreign military sale covers a wide range of support elements for Poland’s F-35 fleet, including enhancements through the aircraft engine Component Improvement Program, or CIP.

Poland intends to purchase non-MDE items, including aircraft modifications, spare parts, consumables and accessories, and repair and return support. The FMS request also involves weapon system support and software, classified software and delivery support, classified and unclassified publications and technical documentation, clothing, textiles, and individual equipment. Furthermore, the proposed deal includes engineering, technical and logistics support from GE Aerospace and the U.S. government.

The potential deal is expected to enhance Poland’s defense capabilities against existing and emerging threats. It will also support U.S. foreign policy and national security goals, while strengthening relations between the two NATO allies.
