The Defense Security Cooperation Agency has notified Congress of a proposed $1 billion military training contract extension with the government of Saudi Arabia.
The move was announced Friday following the State Department’s approval of the foreign military sale, which will require deploying 339 U.S. government or third-party personnel to Saudi Arabia for at least one year.
The program encompasses flight, specialized, technical and English language training of the Royal Saudi Air Force, to be led by the U.S. Air Force.
The blanket order covers command and control, civilian casualty avoidance and armed conflict and human rights laws for technical assistance field and mobile training teams as well as extended training service specialists.
DOD will choose the contract vendors as individual task order requirements are determined.
