State Department OKs Potential $1.95B UH-60M Helicopter Sale to Australia

The State Department has approved a foreign military sale of multimission military helicopters, manufactured by Lockheed Martin‘s (NYSE: LMT) Sikorsky subsidiary, to Australia through a $1.95 billion government-to-government transaction.

Australia requested to buy 40 UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters along with a range of additional items such as engines and spares, counter-missile warning systems, satellite communications radios, radar warning receivers and maintenance and avionics trainers, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency Thursday.

The proposed sale also includes tools and test equipment, technical data and publications, training equipment and engineering, technical and logistics support services.

DSCA notified Congress of the proposed FMS deal and noted the agency does not expect the transaction to alter the basic military balance in the Western Pacific region.

Australia will use the UH-60M Black Hawk aircraft to replace the country’s current multirole helicopter fleet.
