State Department OKs Possible $450M F-16 Sustainment Deal for Pakistan

Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) will serve as the principal contractor on a State Department-authorized $450 million foreign military sale of F-16 sustainment services and related equipment to Pakistan.

The proposed transaction calls for the consolidation of previous aircraft sustainment and support cases associated with the Pakistan air force’s F-16 fleet, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Wednesday.

DSCA noted the sale will cover aircraft and engine hardware and software modifications, repair and return parts and accessories and support equipment.

Pakistan also requested to procure engineering and logistics services, technical documentation, studies and surveys and other related support services.

DSCA has notified Congress of the possible deal and noted the new sustainment program will support Pakistan’s counterterrorism operations.

The sale will not require the overseas deployment of any additional U.S. government or contractor representatives to Pakistan.
