Poland has requested to purchase 96 AH-64E Apache Helicopters and related equipment from the U.S. government under a potential $12 billion foreign military sale deal cleared by the State Department.
Boeing (NYSE: BA) and Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) will serve as principal contractors on the proposed transaction that would include aircraft engines, night vision sensors, fire control radars, hellfire missiles and common missile warning systems, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Monday.
The Polish government also asked for rocket and missile launchers, training devices, communications systems, simulators, transportation equipment, spare and repair parts, test equipment, publications and technical data and logistics support services.
DSCA noted the sale could help strengthen the foreign country’s defense capabilities and boost participation in NATO operations.
Poland would require the deployment of five to eight contractor and government representatives for up to five years to support equipment fielding and training.
