The State Department has approved Australia’s request to buy an extended-range configuration of the Advanced Anti-Radiation Guided Missile system, related equipment and services under a potential $506 million foreign military sales agreement.
The possible FMS transaction includes 63 AARGM-ERs and 20 captive air training missiles, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Monday.
Australia also wants to procure an undisclosed number of dummy air training missiles, containers and component parts along with logistics, transportation, engineering and training support services.
Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) and Raytheon Technologies’ (NYSE: RTX) Javelin Joint Venture will serve as the principal contractor in the deal, which seeks to enable Australia to counter ground or sea-based radar emitters linked to air defenses of adversaries.
DSCA noted the sale will require the deployment of government and contractor personnel to Australia to provide technical oversight and meet other program requirements.
