The State Department has approved Egypt’s request to procure Boeing-built (NYSE: BA) Chinook helicopters and associated equipment from the U.S. government under a potential $2.6 billion transaction.
The Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Thursday the proposed foreign military sale includes 23 CH-47F cargo aircraft units along with machine guns, installed and spare engines, embedded global positioning and inertial navigation systems and common missile warning systems.

DSCA added that 13 government and contractor personnel could provide delivery support to the foreign country if the deal is implemented.
The proposed agreement also calls for the overseas deployment of two contractor representatives and five military technical assistance field team members for a minimum period of two years.
