The State Department has approved the U.K. government’s request to procure Lockheed Martin-built (NYSE: LMT) joint air-to-ground missiles from the U.S. government under a potential $957.4 million foreign military sales agreement.
The British government has asked to buy 3,000 AGM-179A JAGM along with dummy missiles, publications, technical assistance, integration support and logistics and program support, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Monday.
Lockheed will serve as the principal contractor on the proposed FMS deal, which will not require deploying contractor and government representatives to the U.K.
DSCA noted that the foreign buyer will use the requested defense equipment to deter regional threats and strengthen its homeland defense.
