State Department Clears Potential $495M Rocket Launcher FMS Deal for Lithuania

Lithuania has requested to buy Lockheed Martin-built (NYSE: LMT) multiple launch rocket systems and associated equipment from the U.S. government under a $495 million foreign military sales agreement approved by the State Department.

The proposed FMS deal includes eight M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System launchers, missile and rocket pods, battle management system vehicle integration kits, training equipment and related logistics support, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Wednesday.

DSCA noted the international buyer will adopt the HIMARS as part of military weapons modernization and homeland security defense efforts.

Lockheed will serve as the prime contractor on the possible transaction, which the agency said would require the deployment of U.S. representatives to Lithuania for program management reviews.
