State Department Clears Potential $385M FMS Deal With Australia for HIMARS Launchers

The State Department has approved the request of the Australian government to procure high mobility artillery rocket systems and related launcher equipment for approximately $385 million under the Foreign Military Sales program.

The potential transaction includes 20 M142 HIMARS, 30 M30A2 guided multiple launch rocket systems, 10 M57 Army tactical missile systems and a number of warhead, explosive and unitary pods, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Thursday.

Principal contractors, Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) and L3Harris Technologies (NYSE: LHX), will deliver tech-related equipment like battle management system vehicle integration kits and radio communication mount to Australia.

They will also provide the U.S. ally with technical and logistical support services under the possible FMS deal.

Australia seeks to boost its homeland security and critical infrastructure defense with help from the weapon systems.
