State Department Clears Potential $380M Air-to-Air Missile Sale to Belgium

The State Department has approved a potential $380 million sale of advanced medium-range air-to-air missiles, produced by Raytheon Technologies (NYSE: RTX), and related equipment to the government of Belgium.

Raytheon’s missile systems division will serve as the principal contractor on the proposed foreign military sales agreement, which covers the provision of up to 120 AIM-120C-8 AMRAAMs, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Tuesday.

The FMS deal also includes captive air training missiles, guidance sections, spare control sections and containers, training equipment and technical support services.

DSCA noted that the NATO ally will use the requested equipment to maintain its F-16 and F-35 fleets and build up its defense capabilities against regional threats.

Raytheon manufactures updated systems of the AMRAAM for the U.S. Air Force, the Navy and 19 international military customers under a $972 million contract awarded in August.
