The State Department has approved a potential $4.21 billion foreign military sale of F-16 Block 70 aircraft, manufactured by Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT), and related equipment to the Jordanian government.
Jordan asked to procure a dozen units of the updated F-16 C and four of the D configuration to support the country’s fighter aircraft fleet modernization and regional security requirements, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Thursday.
Other items for proposed transaction include 21 F100-GE-129D or F100-PW229EEP engines, embedded GPS inertial navigation systems, modular mission computers, Link 16 low-volume terminals and AN/APG-83 active electronically scanned array radars.
Jordan also wants to acquire AN/ARC-238 radios, MK-82 inert bombs, KMU-572 Joint Direct Attack Munition tail kits, M61A1 Vulcan cannons, repair services and logistical support through the FMS request.
The sale, if implemented, would require 20 contractor representatives to support logistics and storage requirements for 36 months.
