The State Department has approved a potential $650 million foreign military sale of anti-air and anti-surface interceptor missiles and related equipment to the government of South Korea.
RTX‘s (NYSE: RTX) missiles and defense business unit will serve as the principal contractor on the potential deal that covers the provision of 38 Standard Missile 6 Block I missiles and MK 21 vertical launch systems canisters, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Tuesday.
South Korea also requested to purchase training equipment, spares, data and technical publications, engineering and technical assistance and logistics support services.
The potential FMS deal will require the U.S. to deploy government and contractor personnel to South Korea for training and maintenance support.
