State Department Clears $162M Australian MH-60R Helicopter Sustainment Request

Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) will serve as the principal contractor on a State Department-cleared $162 million foreign military sale of sustainment items and services for Australia’s fleet of MH-60R submarine hunter and anti-surface warfare helicopters.

The proposed sale will add pieces of non-major defense equipment to a previously awarded FMS deal worth $89.8 million that included MH-60R sustainment efforts, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Wednesday.

DSCA noted the new potential transaction seeks to help the Australian government maintain mission readiness to counter national security threats in the region.

If implemented, the sale will not require the deployment of additional government or contractor representatives to Australia.

The U.S. Navy awarded Lockheed a $503.7 million order in August to provide the Australian government a dozen Seahawk “Romeo.”

The Sikorsky-built MH-60R helicopter is designed to support a range of naval missions including anti-submarine warfare, combat search and rescue, airborne mine countermeasures and vertical replenishment.
