State Department Approves $350M Sale of MH-60R Engines to South Korea

The South Korean government’s potential $350 million order for MH-60R multi-mission helicopter engines has been approved by the U.S. State Department.

The Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Friday it submitted the certification requirements for the foreign military sale to Congress.

General Electric (NYSE: GE) will be the lead contractor of the project, which includes six T-700 GE 401C or 401D engines and corresponding logistics, sustainment and training support.

The company will provide spare and repair components, ferry services and technical documentation as part of its contract.

South Korea will rely on the military equipment to enhance its anti-surface and anti-submarine warfare missions as well as other activities including search and rescue, vertical replenishment and communications relay.

The Asian country will be assisted by eight U.S. government personnel and four representatives from GE over the course of the program.
