State Department Selects Darktrace Federal–Navitas Team for AI Network Defense Deployment

Darktrace Federal and Navitas Business Consulting have secured a potential $4.8 million firm-fixed-price contract with the Department of State to deploy an artificial intelligence-powered network detection and response, or NDR, capability across the Bureau of Diplomatic Security’s global IT environment.

According to a press release published Tuesday, the team will field Darktrace’s Cyber AI Mission Defense NDR technology to support cyber defense operations that protect U.S. diplomatic personnel, facilities and information in more than 170 countries.

At the 2026 Artificial Intelligence Summit on March 19, federal and industry leaders will share how they are accelerating adoption, managing risk and ensuring AI delivers measurable mission value. Register now to stay ahead of this transformation.

What Capabilities Will Darktrace Provide to Diplomatic Security?

Darktrace’s NDR platform, powered by its Self-Learning AI, will be used to analyze network behavior across users, devices and systems. CAMD uses automated threat detection and response capabilities designed to identify a range of cyber risks, including zero-day exploits, insider activity and supply chain vulnerabilities.

The platform supports both information technology and operational technology environments and is intended to provide increased visibility across the bureau’s digital operations.

Navitas will support the implementation with its cloud and cybersecurity engineering frameworks.

“By combining Darktrace’s Self-Learning AI with Navitas’ deep federal and cloud expertise, the Department of State will gain mission-wide visibility and precise, real-time defense at global scale,” said Marcus Fowler, CEO of Darktrace Federal.

What Recent Federal Milestones Has Darktrace Federal Reached?

The State Department contract follows multiple federal-focused developments for Darktrace Federal, including:
• Achieving FedRAMP High authorization
• Opening a dedicated deployment center in Dallas, Texas, to support government production requirements
• Forming a federal distribution partnership with Vertosoft
Darktrace Federal plans to expand its workforce by 20 percent over the next six months to support federal adoption of AI cybersecurity tools.
