State & Local Govt Tech Vet Jeremy Goldberg Joins Microsoft's Worldwide Public Sector Group

Jeremy Goldberg, former interim chief information officer and deputy secretary of general government, technology and innovation for the state of New York, has joined the worldwide public sector organization at Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT).

He said Friday in a LinkedIn post he aims to help drive Microsoft’s technology and infrastructure transformation efforts within the government sector as part of a team led by Julia Glidden.

Government Technology reported that Goldberg previously oversaw technological efforts related to New York’s coronavirus pandemic response and will support the company’s digital government programs in his new position.

“As governments around the world rethink their technology strategies, there’s an opportunity to not only replace outdated systems, but also to connect the dots and build truly cohesive systems that work together,” he told the publication in an interview.

Goldberg noted that industry must be flexible in service delivery and contractual requirements while agencies should pursue collaborations that have meaningful investments.

His local government experience includes time as deputy chief technology officer of New York City; deputy chief of staff for civic innovation in San Jose, California; and director of innovation partnerships and director of startup in residence for San Francisco.
