Space Systems Command’s Space Test Program has begun soliciting proposals for a potential 10-year multiple-award indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract to acquire commercial spacecraft capable of carrying military payloads to space.
STP has released the final request for proposals for the Space Test Experiments Platform 2.0 program to procure satellites in support of the U.S. Space Force’s science and technology demonstrations, SSC said.
The STEP 2.0 procurement effort, estimated to be worth approximately $237 million over 10 years, is expected to establish a network of commercial vendors capable of supplying satellite buses to host the Department of Defense’s technology experiments, SpaceNews reported Thursday.
“The DOD Space Test Program is looking to leverage all the successes from industry to provide proven spacecraft to host the DoD’s next generation of space technologies,” said Lt. Col. Brian Shimek, director of STP.
Proposals are due by mid-June, with contract awards expected in July and first task orders in September.
