SSAI Lands Potential $425M NASA Scientific Research Support IDIQ

Science Systems and Applications Inc. has secured a potential five-year, $425M contract to support scientific research activities within a Goddard Space Flight Center subdivision focused on hydrosphere, biosphere and geophysics. SSAI will work with the Goddard HBG subdivision toward applying observations and technology platforms to various areas of study, the space agency said Thursday.

The company will help laboratories study the ocean ecosystem, natural hazards, sea-level change, magnetic and gravity fields and climate variability, among other topics.

Goddard's HBG subcomponent is made-up of Cryospheric Sciences, Geodesy and Geophysics, Ocean Ecology, Hydrological Sciences, Terrestrial Information Systems and Biospheric Sciences labs.

NASA awarded the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract through a small business set-aside solicitation process. The IDIQ has a five-year ordering period that will commence on April 1.

Both the agency and the contractor reached a separate ordering agreement for the program's phase-in period of 45 days.

Lanham, Md.-based SSAI specializes in scientific R&D, engineering and information analytics related to Earth and space science.
