The award follows a $170 million DOD investment announced three years ago to add a radiation-hardened semiconductor production line to SkyWater’s existing foundry, the company said Tuesday.
SkyWater created initial process design kits, an embedded field programmable gate array intellectual property core and static random access memory compilers during the base prototype phase of the RH90 development project.
The microelectronics foundry operator expects to complete its RH90 qualification work by the end of 2024 and aims to receive classification V designation for the process in the Defense Logistics Agency’s qualified manufacturers list.
