Stokes announced his move to Sigma Defense in a LinkedIn post published Wednesday.
He brings over two decades of leadership experience in the defense and aerospace sectors to the role.
Who Is Jim Stokes?
Prior to joining Sigma Defense, Stokes was chief operating officer at Aries Defense, where he oversaw operations and worked directly with customers to develop products in support of their missions, according to his LinkedIn profile.
He previously served as chief technology officer of GeoAcuity before moving to Aries Defense.
His industry career included time as a VP at Maxar Technologies; chief analytics officer at PlanetRisk; geospatial operations adviser at Terrain360; VP of technology solutions at DigitalGlobe; and VP at GeoEye.
Stokes was co-founder and served as executive VP of SPADAC.
He also served as a remote sensing engineer at SAIC and a technical solutions consultant at CapTech Ventures.
Sigma Defense Acquires Aries Defense
His appointment comes on the heels of Sigma Defense’s acquisition of Aries Defense, which specializes in tactical video and sensor integration for unmanned aerial vehicles and unattended sensors.
Through the transaction, Sigma Defense said it expects to boost its intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance and Combined Joint All Domain Command and Control, or CJADC2, capabilities at the operational edge.
