SAP NS2 has appointed retired U.S. Army Gen. Gustave “Gus” Perna as executive vice president and strategic customer officer. In a LinkedIn post on Tuesday, the company said Perna’s appointment comes as it accelerates the delivery of artificial intelligence capabilities to its customers.

Who Is Gus Perna?

Perna is a retired four-star U.S. Army general with nearly 40 years of experience in military leadership, logistics and supply chain management. He brings deep expertise in strategy, workforce development and mission-critical operations supporting national security priorities. 

He is the founder and CEO of Perna Consulting, where he advises organizations on leadership, change management, supply chain operations, C-suite strategy, talent development and manufacturing efficiency. Perna serves on the boards of 280 Earth, MD Helicopters, Corvias, Paradigm Health and Allison Transmission.

What Did Perna Do Before Joining SAP NS2?

He previously served as the Army’s chief operating officer for Operation Warp Speed, overseeing the U.S. government’s COVID-19 vaccine development and distribution initiative. Earlier, he led the Army Materiel Command and held senior leadership roles at the Defense Logistics Agency, Joint Munitions Command, and the Army’s Deputy Chief of Staff, G-4 office.
