Matt Goodrich, principal solutions engineer at Salesforce (NYSE: CRM), has said the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program sets a standardized approach to cloud security in the federal government and its continuous evolution has resulted in agencies starting to realize that the cloud offers better security.
Goodrich wrote that agencies now see security as a fundamental part of the development process from the beginning and their level of trust in cloud deployments enables them to quickly develop applications designed to support the needs of employees and citizens.
He cited his involvement in the development of cloud computing policies such as FedRAMP and Cloud First Policy during his time at the General Services Administration and the Office of Management and Budget.
“Ultimately, security is not about protecting a system, it is about protecting data,” he noted. “Automation, machine learning and artificial intelligence are fueling the creation of data at speeds we’ve never experienced before.”
He stated that cloud security will continue to evolve and that Salesforce and other companies are looking for new ways like zero trust model to protect data.
