RTX Secures $537M SPY-6 Integration, Production Support Contract

The U.S. Navy has awarded a $536.8 million sole-source contract to the missile and defense segment of RTX business Raytheon to provide air and missile defense radar AN/SPY-6(V) integration and production support efforts.

SPY-6 radar purchases for the United States and the government of Germany under the Foreign Military Sales program were combined in the contract, the Department of Defense said Wednesday.

The contract includes options that would increase its cumulative value to $2.89 billion and extend the performance work period from May 2026 to May 2030, if exercised. Work will be performed in Massachusetts, Mississippi, New Jersey, Virginia, Hawaii, Maine, Rhode Island and California.

Countering Aerial, Surface and Ballistic Missile Threats

The latest award builds on the $677 million contract modification from the U.S. Navy in June 2024 for SPY-6 radars. Issued under a potential $3.2 billion contract award in 2022, the modification required the delivery of SPY-6 radar hardware, production and sustainment support services through September 2028 to provide the naval fleet with enhanced detection, electronic warfare protection and air surveillance capabilities.

RTX said at the time that the Navy will integrate the radar into the USS Jack H. Lucas Arleigh Burke-class destroyer, among other surface ships, as part of a plan to equip 65 vessels with the air and missile defense capability over the next decade.
