RTX Lands $2.1B MDA Contract for SM-3 Missile Support

RTX has secured a $2.13 billion contract modification from the Missile Defense Agency for engineering and product support services to sustain Standard Missile-3 Block missile variants.

The Department of Defense said Monday the potential contractor will provide management support, materials and other services for various SM-3 Block surface-to-air missiles for the United States and foreign military sales partners.

With the $2.13 billion modification, the contract value of $1.20 billion has been adjusted to $3.33 billion.

The project will take place in Tucson, Arizona, and Huntsville, Alabama and will run through Oct. 29, 2029. The MDA oversees the contract.

In November 2020, RTX initially secured a $722 million indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract from the MDA for engineering, management and sustainment of SM-3 Block interceptors. The eight-year contract started in 2021 and is set to be completed in October 2029, as previously mentioned.

RTX was also awarded a seven-year $2.14B contract in March 2020 for the production and maintenance of SM-3 Block 1B rounds.
