He will directly report to Michael Brasseur, vice president and chief strategy officer, within the newly created strategy office of Saab Inc. and will bring to the role over 25 years of experience as an innovation and national security leader, the company said Friday.
As the alliance’s inaugural head of innovation, Murray was responsible for conceptualizing and advancing the $1 billion NATO Innovation Fund and the NATO Defense Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic. He was instrumental in developing a multilateral artificial intelligence strategy to advance responsible AI use.
The former U.K. army officer also served as a professor at Johns Hopkins University.
Murray’s appointment came after Saab acquired CrowdAI and BlueBear as part of efforts to expand its portfolio with the addition of AI and machine learning capabilities.
